Jan-Eise Fokkema (10-03-1988) is a jazz pianist and is studying at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen. He started taking piano lessons in pop music at the age of 7 by Hans Voerman. He quickly became interested in classical piano and ragtime. When he was 16, he was accepted to be the pianist of the Fedde S. BigBand in Heerenveen. Influenced by pianists such as Oscar Peterson, he became interested in jazz. In 2007, he was accepted at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen and was performing regularly at venues including the "Jazz Vibes Festival" in Hoogeveen, "De Harmonie" in Leeuwarden and Jazz Club "De Spieghel" in Groningen. He has been taking lessons from internationally acclaimed pianists such as Jasper Soffers, Marc van Roon, David Berkman and Wolfert Brederode and has attended masterclasses by James Moody and New York based musicians such as Don Braden, Alex Sipiagin and Mark Gross.
